Bearded Dragons are the staple in the UK pet world, and the number one pet reptile. They are usually very docile pets, and are a great size, being big enough to be easy for children to handle, whilst not being too large to be an inconvenience to house.
As a general rule of thumb, a Bearded Dragon requires a vivarium of 4′ x 2′ x 2′, though the more space you can provide for them, the better. They are not a social animal, and are best housed alone.
We are able to get various stunning morphs of Bearded Dragons, get in touch if you’re after something specific.
The Leopard Gecko is a ground dwelling gecko found in arid, rocky grassland and desert habitats in South Asia. They’re a great family pet – although they do prefer to come out in the evening. Easily to handle and usually very docile with sweet cheeky faces, what’s not to love?
Our Leopard Geckos come in a HUGE variety of morphs, we always have different morphs available in the shop.
As a general rule of thumb, a Leopard Geckos requires a vivarium of 3′ x 2′ x 2′, though the more space you can provide for them, the better. They are not a social animal, and are best housed alone.
Chinese Water Dragons are an active and energetic pet, and require a lot of space to move around, ideally a vivarium of at least 5 x 2 x 3ft, though a greater area would be utilised and beneficial, giving them room to move both left to right, as well as climb up and down, which is what they would be doing naturally in the wild.
As their name suggests, they are often found in and around water, so having a large pool is an important part of their welfare.
They can be handled, though tend to be skittish and will need taming, and feed from both vegetation and live insects as well. Although they are moderate in their body, their tail adds a lot of length with males reaching up to 4ft nose tip to tail tip!
The Crested Gecko is an arboreal gecko and can be quick and agile, but also have a docile temperament and are commonly handled.
Being perfectly built for the trees, your enclosure will require a good amount of height and opportunity to climb. A minimum of 45 x 45 x 90cm should house an adult, yet they would utilise more space if provided.
They tend to be brown – yellowy/orange in colour, though they are available in many different morphs. Please get in touch if you’re after something in particular.
They have ‘cat like’ eyes and long eye lashes as well as large feet with sticky toes and a semi-prehensile tail – making them perfect for climbing and an interesting and attractive gecko.
A small arboreal lizard native to the United States. Green Anoles are very active lizards but not generally handleable due to their nervous temperament.
Their small stature, visually appealing green coloration, and relatively short life span of 2-4 years makes anoles an ideal pet for people who don’t have room for huge vivariums.
Green anoles are easily maintained in 10-gallon glass aquariums or other enclosures of a similar size. Screen tops are a must for this species to ensure adequate ventilation. Two anoles can be kept in a 10-gallon enclosure so long as both anoles are female or one is male. Two males will fight and stress each other out. A 20-gallon tank can comfortably house 3-4 anoles.
Chameleons are an intriguing and fascinating animal, that can be truly spectacular pets. There are different species, such as Yemen Chameleons, which are smaller and generally less colourful, or Panther Chameleons. There are dwarf species through to giant species, such as the Parsons Chameleon.
As a general rule, male chameleons live longer than females, though females do tend to be more docile and easier to handle, though this can vary by species.
A minimum of 60 x 45 x 90cm should be used to house your chameleon – though any more space is sure to be utilised and a huge benefit to the animal. This does vary for each different species so please check before buying a terrarium.
Sailfin dragons intrigue anyone interested in dinosaurs. These prehistoric-looking lizards endowed with spikes and crests are truly magnificent beasts.
They require large, semiarboreal enclosures, so only those willing to offer appropriate room should consider keeping sailfin dragons.
Sailfin dragons require lots of room. They easily measure 3 feet long in captivity. Large adult males reach up to 4 feet in length. Females are usually a third smaller than males.
Several books note that Hydrosaurus species can live up to 25 years.
A single adult sailfin dragon should have an enclosure measuring at least 5 feet long, 2.5 feet wide and 5 feet tall.
Green iguanas can be found throughout Central and South America and are one of the most popular larger lizards kept in captivity.
They love to bask in the sun or under an ultraviolet light, and they enjoy a diet of leafy greens and vegetables.
Many people don’t realize that iguanas can grow to be quite large, exceeding 6 ft (1.8 m) in length and live 20 years.
Iguanas should be properly socialized when they are young to ensure that they can be handled as adults. They require specialized housing and regular veterinary care and may not be a suitable pet for everyone.
Argentine Tegus are large reptiles, with some species reaching a total length of around four feet, and a weight of approximately fifteen pounds. Tegus are omnivorous, foraging for a wide range of foods and come from South America.
Tegus are very active creature whom need as much space as possible we recommend an enclosure with a minimum of 4 by 6 feet.
A Tegu can be a tough lizard to handle but with constant human interaction they can be domesticated and create a bond with the handler. Some consider the domesticated Tegu as “the” intelligent large reptile people love keeping as a pet.
When kept in the proper environment, they can have a lifespan of 10+ years.
Savannah monitors are a rugged species so they require a habitat that is relatively simple. The requirements for feeding Savannah Monitors and caring for them are also not complicated.
With regular contact and handling, Savannah Monitors will eventually be domesticated and relatively easy to handle.
Savannah Monitor adults are a medium size measuring close to 2.5’ – 3 feet.
Their enclosure be 6’x 5’x 4’ or larger. The secure enclosure must have the essentials like stout limbs they can climb and perch on. There should only be one Savannah Monitor per enclosure.
